JOB SUMMARY
- Expert CNC Programmer / Machinist must be proficient with programming 5-axis Milling and Multi-Turret/Multi-Spindle Turning Lathes using GibbsCAM software.
- Write, develop, and edit CNC programs and develop, design and program related tooling fixtures required.
- Support Operations with 1st-time runs, program tryout and approval, and New Product Introductions.
- Promote continuous improvement (Lean) activities, and providing technical support to CNC operators and machinists.
- This position is to support all CNC programs and work on day or weekend shifts if required. The candidate must be a self-starter, be able communicate well and have excellent interpersonal skills. Thorough knowledge of CNC programming and machine shop practices is essential for success in this position.
- Provide direction and coaching to other CNC programmer to ensure all daily and weekly responsibilities and assignments are completed on time.
- Ensure product quality by working closely with all functional groups to develop, support and maintain CNC programs, tooling, and related documentation for machinery used throughout the manufacturing facility.
· Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sales RFQ activities with cost-estimates related to machining activities.
· Positively effect On-Time Delivery, and Reduced Set-up and Cycle Times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Use GibbsCAM to develop CNC Programming using CAD data (i.e. solid models, .step, .igs, etc), 2-D drawings, and applicable customer and/or internal requirements.
- Create / maintain CNC machining programs providing the appropriate level of floor support for program introduction, productivity optimization, and trouble shooting.
- Define, design, order, review and implement all tooling associated with manufacture of parts on specified CNC machinery, working with Tool Design as required.
- Create / maintain tooling libraries and databases including set up sheets, sketches, and associated documentation required to accurately account for the design configuration of CNC tooling
- Provide appropriate level of floor support by interfacing with operators and other functional groups to review processing issues due to the machining process. Provide solutions that address root cause.
- Continuously improve manufacturing processes to ensure superior product quality, reduced cycle times, lead times, and minimize overall manufacturing costs.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers in the creation of the most efficient manufacturing routings / outlines for the manufacture of parts utilizing CNC machinery.
- Support and provide assistance, as required, for various special projects
- Provide guidance and coaching to other CNC programmers on best practices and on efficient programming and machining techniques.
- Ability to perform machine set-ups on FAI/NPI jobs, create and edit G&M code programs at the machine if necessary

Pay: $27.00 – $42.00 per hour
