Job Summary:Â
Under general supervision, lead, train, assign and coordinate work in CNC Lathe area; demonstrate and explain machining techniques and work procedures; performs other related duties as assigned.Â

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:Â
- Monitors assigned manufacturing operations within CNCÂ lathe area;Â Â
- Sets up, operate CNCÂ lathes and other related equipment;Â Â
- Requests purchases of tools and supplies;Â Â
- Review employee problems with department supervisor and manager;Â Â
- Works closely with CNC Programmer concerning programmed jobs;Â Â
- Expedites work as directed;Â Â
- Train operators how to operate jib crane and bridge crane to load and unload parts;Â
- Familiar with hitching and rigging equipment and their use;Â
- Participates in performance evaluations and reports performance infractions to supervisor and department manager;Â Â
- Performs other duties based on production requirements or needs of department management.Â
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; andÂ
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.Â

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:Â
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:Â
Â
Experience/Training/Education:Â
Considerable experience in CNC lathe operation in a machine shop setting; working knowledge of Jib cranes and Bridge type cranes. Working knowledge of machine shop operations and manufacturing practices; minimum high school diploma, supplemented by course work or training in leadership fundamentals. Â
Â
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Â
- Able to analyze and solve machining and work process problems;Â Â
- Knowledge of CNCÂ lathes, equipment set up and operation;Â Â
- Able to communicate effectively with employees and supervision both orally and in writing;Â Â
- Able to read and interpret instructions, schematics and manufacturing and engineering drawings;Â Â
- Able to train, develop and check the work of subordinates; andÂ
- Knowledge of quality control inspection methods and casting layout work.Â
- Ability to operate jib crane and bridge crane; andÂ
- Knowledge of safe hitching and rigging techniques to manipulate parts.Â

- Ability to bend, reach, lift, move, and carry tools and materials weighing 25 pounds or less;Â Â
- Ability to reach and adjust equipment control settings; andÂ
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;Â Â

Acceptable set of machinist's tools may be required; andÂ
