Manufacturing Engineer
A multi-faced manufacturing company specializing in metal stamping and metal fabrication to OEM leaders in automotive, consumer, electronic, and a variety of other industries throughout North America.
The Manufacturing Engineer’s role:
The position will assist in developing, maintaining, and improving our manufacturing processes to produce a quality product.  Provide technical service and assist Project Engineers on special projects as needed. Candidate must have good verbal and written skills to effectively communicate project needs.Â
Primary Duties:
- Design, plan, commission and maintain production lines.
- Improve existing operations, incorporating new methods and processes using lean manufacturing methods and practices.
- Identify best practice (benchmarking) techniques & processes across facilities & implement as appropriate.
- Define & manage budgets for new equipment & projects.
- Investigate operational problems affecting production and resolve in a systematic, methodical and timely manner.
- Working with Product Development, advising on manufacturing processes & on DFM/DFA.
- Develop manufacturing processes, with specific focus on Right 1st Time.
- Coordination of manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturer (work instructions, routings, PFMEA, etc.).
- Design, develop & procure production tooling & assembly fixtures.
- Use & interpret SPC data to develop robust assembly processes.
- Work with engineering and other departments to produce cost estimates for new designs by estimating TAKT, tooling & fixture requirements, costs, etc.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ Manufacturing Engineer experience in a role supporting manufacturing operations.
- Experience in the metals manufacturing industry.
- Experience in metal assemblies (MIG/TIG welding, resistance welding, and mechanically attached assemblies)
- Experience with program and troubleshooting PLC systems, robots, and vision systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Pro-E, Catia.
- Prefer an engineering degree from an accredited institution in mechanical or industrial engineering.
