The incumbent will work in the Electrical Engineering Department in the design, development,
testing,
and validation of electrical components and systems for industrial high-speed servo motion control
packaging machinery.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or similar technology
Experience:
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical system design
• Experience with automation machinery is a plus
• Working knowledge of multi-axis servo systems is a plus.
• Working knowledge of integrated safety technology with emphasis on servo motor
control is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Design of industrial machine controls and electrical systems.
• Proficient in the development of engineering drawings and schematics using AutoCAD
Electrical CAD.
• Understanding of industrial machine controls, electrical systems, PLC, and HMI
programming.
• Experienced in new product development and working with integrated product teams in
a stage- gate like environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional manufacturing organization,
multi-task, and balance priorities.
• Understands and executes designs following the principles of Value Engineering,
design for assembly, and design for serviceability
• Familiar with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and Change Control processes.
• Critical thinker with the ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause and
corrective action of machine issues.
• Strong project planning and organizational skills. Able to multi-task and balance
priorities.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills demonstrates a
positive and can- do attitude.

• Knowledge of heater control applications and PID control systems.
• Knowledge of current safety policies and machine directives like NFPA, OSHA
regulations, and industrial processes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical safety circuit design with an emphasis on
industrial packaging machinery adhering to NFPA79 and CE requirements.
• Be familiar with standard communication protocols, (Ethernet IP, Sercos, Ethercat,
and Powerlink) concepts, practices, and procedures related to the motion automation field.
• Knowledge of MS Office applications including WORD, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of UL, NEC, CE, NFPA79, OSHA electrical standards codes, and general
safety electrical practices as per NFPA79E.
• Basic understanding of the concepts of 5S and Lean Manufacturing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participates in all new product development phases.
• Assist with the planning and completion of new packaging machinery projects by
providing input on appropriate electrical design.
• Provides electrical specifications for the design, development, release of data,
integration, testing, and validation.
• Designs and generates electrical safety circuits conforming to NSPA79 and CE
requirements
• Generates proper documentation to support integrated safety technology for packaging
machinery.
• Generates proper documentation to support the project requirement and specification
for new machines.
• Generates proposals that include the scope of work, labor, and price breakdown.
• Supports electrical engineering for existing packaging machinery.
• Develops and manages all electrical BOMs, drawings, and schematics
• Identifies suppliers and works with them to co-develop electrical
components/systems.
• Performs electrical load calculations and power and thermal system analysis.
• Conducts development and validation testing to ensure designs are safe, robust, and
reliable.
• Generates applicable test procedures and reports
• Assists in the development of technical literature
• Provides electrical technical support to the engineering department, manufacturing,
field service, and customers.
• Provides support in the Factory Acceptance Test and Site Accepted Test as required
• Maybe tasked with field installation work which will require travel to the customer
facilities.
• Adheres to all company policies, safety rules, and safe work practices on site,
while traveling, and at the customer’s location.
• Maintains a highly professional image while representing Winpak Corporation.
• Up to 10% travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
