 I. PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

Under the direction of the Polishing Supervisor duties include, but are not limited too, inspects, relieves, colors, belts, copper-polish, satin, polish, copper-colors, and sandblast material using polishing, small buffing, and sandblasting machines.  Repairs components using the belt sander.  Cleans and repairs components in the polishing area.  Polish materials, workpieces, or finished products.  Smooth metal surfaces or edges.  Keeps work area in good housekeeping condition.  Adheres to all safety practices, inspection logs, housekeeping, and utilization of protective equipment.  Polisher Level I is a new hire or an entry-level polisher.

 

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.

·    Move controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding and polishing processes.

·    Remove completed workpieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place workpieces in containers.

·    Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding and polishing standards are met.

  • Perform housekeeping activities in the Polishing Area.
  • Adhere to and promote all company safety rules and requirements, including daily inspection logs.

IV. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

 

  • Ability to work with power tools.
  • Good eyesight.
  • Extreme regard for safety.
  • Some mechanical aptitude desired.
  • Ability to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Ability to speak and read in basic English
  • One-year experience working in a production environment.

 

V. PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

  • Capable of lifting up to 35 pounds with or without assistance
  • Continuous use of both hands.
  • Work standing most of the time.
  • Use power tools.

 

VI. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

 

· Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes, cold, and heat

· Require face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection while on shop floor and any other required PPE.
