JOB DIMENSIONS:
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs precision hand welding using MIG, TIG, and ARC equipment; works to close tolerances and certifies work as requested; occasional basic drilling as assigned; and performs related duties, as assigned.
Reports to Supervisor
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
·        Operates Heliarc, ARC, and MIG welding machines in accordance with Fab Shop procedures and plant specifications;
·        Follows blueprints, production drawings, production procedures, and instructions;
·        Confers with various departmental representatives to verify engineering plans, drawings, and specifications;
·        Performs hand burning and gas welding;
·         Repairs welds and structural welds;
·        Cleans shop and maintains work areas and equipment;
·         Operates drill press, occasionally, with instruction from supervisor;
·           Sets up, operates, and adjusts related production equipment as needed, including hand brake, sheet metal shears, grinder, lathe, saw cutter, and hand tools.
·           Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
·          Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations;

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

Experience/Training/Education:
Â
- Equivalent to high school graduation; considerable experience, training, education, and/or certification as a combination welder, preferably within a related manufacturing environment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
·        Able to operate all types of welding machines;
·        Able to operate related production equipment including lathes, brakes, shears, saw cutters, grinders, and drill press;
·        Considerable knowledge of all phases of welding including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding methods and processes;
·        Able to read blueprints, layouts, and fittings;
·        Able to communicate and work cooperatively with others;
·        Able to follow oral and written instructions;
·        Able to fabricate materials to specifications; and
·       Able to lay out and organize work.
