SUMMARY:
Responsible for the operation and daily maintenance of mechanical presses. Must be able to set up and operate a mechanical Punch Press and Stamping Presses. Desirable to be able to set up and run 4-slide machines or have the mechanical ability to learn the 4-slide machines. Must have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in basic setting up and operating mechanical punch presses. Visual inspection, testing. Press Operators are responsible for set-up inspection, in process inspections and a final visual inspection of the last part die cut, to verify that the die is in operable condition for the next run. Check for dimensional but also visual inspections verifying surface finish, product is clean and check for cut through on cut product. Uses general hand tools to set up, run, troubleshoot and tear down fabrication presses and machinery. Uses a variety of measurement and inspection equipment to document and determine proper configuration and performance of our product. Picks punch outs from finished product. Packages and palletizes finished product. General housekeeping.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUITES:
• Work as a team with Supervisor and co-workers to achieve company goals and objectives.
• Ensures that all set-ups and teardowns are performed efficiently. Follow specific operating procedures, guidelines and instructions. Properly cleaning, protecting and storing of all fabrication tooling.
• Operators are responsible for the quality of the product they produce. Read blue prints, follow quality requirements, measuring and documenting the quality of product being produced. Ensuring that all products meet design specifications. Each product manufactured is to have a first article inspection done by the supervisor, after that it is the responsibility of the operator to do all in process inspections. Any non-conforming product should be brought to the attention of the Supervisor immediately. Accurately and thoroughly fill out all paperwork including maintenance work orders.
• Press Operators are responsible for set-up inspection, in process inspections and a final visual inspection of the last part die cut, to verify that the die is in operable condition for the next run. Parts from each cavity are to be inspected. Any non-conformance found whether during set-up or in process should be brought to the attention of the Supervisor. Don’t only check for dimensional but also visual inspections verifying surface finish, product is clean and check for cut through on kiss cut product.
• Operator is to maintain accurate information for job cost sheets and is responsible for filling out these sheets for any product they process.
• General housekeeping of machines and production areas. Keeping plant cleaned, organized, safe and items put away correctly in proper locations.
• Detects and reports defective materials to supervisor
• Conducts press operation safety checks on prescribed intervals
• May perform minor maintenance and machine adjustments
• Performs daily inspection and pre-startup PM
• Ability to read drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Starts and operates hydraulic and mechanical presses
• Load and unload machine in an efficient, productive manner
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up
• Individual is consistently at work on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance
• Individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly
• Responsible for keeping all tools, dies, machine controls in good, working condition – must report immediately to press supervisor if there are any problems with these items
• Ensure paperwork is filled out completely and accurately
• Clean-up of working area and entire surroundings
• Other duties may be assigned as needed
• Work as a team with Supervisor and co-workers to achieve company goals and objectives.
• General housekeeping of machines and production areas. Keeping plant cleaned, organized, safe and items put away correctly in proper locations.
• Complete special projects as assigned by the Production Manager or Supervisor.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 5 of related experience and/or training
• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to interpret drawings and schematics
• Ability to read a tape measure and caliper
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50-75lbs.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as requested
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply
