Job Description:
Under general supervision, employee is responsible for assisting in the administration and performance of general accounting activities in a manufacturing environment, including the maintenance of the general ledger. Other duties involve participating in the preparation of periodic financial reports – monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement packages.  Must be able to demonstrate skills for simplifying and improving accounting systems and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Could be involved in any aspect of the Accounting Department including:
  • Balance sheet account analysis and accuracy of transactions affecting the general ledger, and various distribution journals (shop floor control, inventory control, accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer orders) in a manufacturing environment;
  • Periodic financial statements and related schedules;
    • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of account analyses and reconciliations;
    • Timely preparation of journal entries and execution of the periodic closing process;
  • Able to effectively compile selective historical data;
  • Review and understanding of Periodic Company Sales and Bookings reports;
  • Reconciliation of inventories held in-house and on consignment to others;
  • Coordination with Payroll Administrator as required;
  • Monthly bank statement reconciliations;
  • Business sales and use tax reporting for periodic filing with state government agencies;
  • Maintaining fixed assets and appropriations schedules in agreement with the general ledger as required;
  • Coordinate with U.S. Customs broker to prepare U.S. Customs (USMCA) reconciliations for items transferred to and from, 
  • Potential for supervision of Accounting Personnel to be determined by experience and performance;

Skills and Requirements:

  • Applicant must be ITAR compliant;
  • Bachelors of Accounting degree from an accredited university;
  • Strong sense of ethics, integrity, and accountability;
  • Accurate and organized;
  • Knowledge of cost accounting functions with experience in a manufacturing environment considered beneficial;
  • Experience with standard cost systems and variance analysis considered beneficial;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel desired with demonstrable ability to create pivot tables, lookup tables, charts, and graphs;
  • Excellent written, analytical, and oral communication skills;
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, ability to work collaboratively and build consensus across the organization;
  • Work consistently in a team-oriented environment with overtime and travel as required;
