Position Summary
The Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Drafter III works under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager preparing technical and mechanical drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices and the manufacture of equipment.
Essential Job Duties
- Prepare technical drawings and resolve associated mechanical and fabrication problems
- Participate in research and development designing special modifications to existing machinery or parts
- Determine design elements, such as the numbers and kinds of fasteners needed to assemble the machine
- Perform a modeling, drafting, Engineering Change Order (ECO) process with minimum errors
- Prepare drawings showing the detail and method of assembly of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices, indicating dimensions, fastening methods, and other requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or an Associate’s degree in drafting or the completion of a technical school drafting program or a combination of education and equivalent experience using computer aided design and drafting (CADD) systems
- Must have extensive experience to quickly translate sketches into detail drawings
- Heavy mechanically inclined
- Must have extensive manufacturing experience in dealing with sheet metal, welding, machine shop
- Must be able to determine and size all required elements, such as, bearing, gears sprockets, drive chain, drive pulleys, gearmotors
- Must be able to calculate and determine strength in materials
- Must be able to work side by side with electrical team to help include electrical design elements, such as safeties switches, e-stop’s mechanical/electrical design devices
- Must be able to solve complicated mathematical problems
- Must be able to quickly resolve any fabrication related issues
- Must be able to generate and perform cost analysis and comparisons
- Ability to adhere to ethical principles that reflect the highest standards of organizational and individual behavior
- Possess effective organizational and time management skills, be detail oriented, manage competing priorities for multiple tasks and consistently meet all deadlines
